Policies

Encore Academy of Dance is not responsible for students misplaced articles. Please mark all personal items and keep all belongings seperate from other students in a dance bag and on the shelf.

Registration

All students must complete a registration/medical release form before beginning classes. New students may take one trial class free of charge before registering, however, if they decide to continue the trial class will count as their first class.

Tuition and Withdrawl

Tuition is due by the 1st of every month. After the 10th a $15 late fee will be added. NO EXCEPTIONS will be made for this. A $30 fee will be added to all returned checks. Withdrawl from the program must be made in writing to the front desk or tuition will be due. Tuition is NON-REFUNDABLE. NO EXCEPTIONS.

Credits and Refunds

No credits or refunds will be given.

Attendence

Regular attendence is vital to student progress and group choreography. Please make every effort to attend all classes. No refunds will be given for missed classes, however, a student may make-up missed classes by taking another class in the same style of dance during the month in which the class was missed.Please speak with the student’s instructor regarding appropriate make-up classes for your student. If a student misses more than three of the final ten classes before recital they may be dismissed from participating in the recital, at the discreation of the instructor.

Classroom Etiquette

Dance training is built on standards that reflect respect and professionalism. These include being prepared for classes by wearing the appropriate dress code, shoes and having hair done accordingly, listening to the instructor, and applying corrections and not wearing street clothes to class. We expect all students to arrive on time, be prepared to dance and display courtesy to parents, instructors and classmates. Tardy, unprepared or discourtesy students may not be allowed to dance.

Information

Please continue to check your e-mail, the bulletin boards and posted signs for reminders and new information. Encore Academy of Dance can not be responsible for notifying each individual student of all reminders.

Communications

During class hours, instructors are not available for discussion. Written messages may be left for the instructors at the front desk. Be sure to include a name and phone number if a return call is necessary. If a parent chooses, or if an instructor feels it is necessary, a conference time may be arranged with an instructor and parent regarding a students progress.

Drop off/ pick up/ saftey

All students need to enter and exit the studio from the back door at all times. No one is allowed to walk through the studio while classes are being held. Please walk young students into the studio at all times. Young students should also be instructed by parents to wait inside the studio until the person providing transportation enters the studio to pick them up. Please do not leave students at the studio for lengthy time periods. If an emergency prevents prompt pick up of your student, please call the studio to advise the student and staff of the situation.

Lobby

An office manager will be at the front desk during office hours when classes are being held to receive payments, answer questions and supervise the area. NO food or drinks are allowed on the studio floor. Bottled water is acceptable.

Inclement Weather

Encore Academy of Dance follows the Durham Public Schools closings for inclement weather. Should snow or ice fall during school hours or on the weekend, please call the studio (919)383-5048 for instructions. In most cases, classes will be held when schools are delayed due to weather; however, please call the studio to be certain. Students may take another class in the same style of dance during the same month to make-up for any classes missed due to weather. If you are uncertain of the make-up class for your student, please check at the front desk.

Recital

Our annual spring recital is held at Carolina Theatre. Each student participating in the recital is required to pay a $100 recital fee, $150 fee for families. This is a non-refundable fee due by March 1, 2009. The recital fee helps to cover the cost of producing the show. In exchange, each student will receive 2 complimentary tickets, a souvenir recital program, a recital DVD and tee shirt. Families will receive only one souvenir program and DVD. Additional tickets can be purchased at the studio for $10. Tickets purchased on recital day will be $12. Recital is June 7, 2009.

Costumes

Costume payments (in full) are due November 1, 2008 and are non-refundable after November 20, 2008. Costumes are ordered over Thanksgiving Break and will not be ordered without payment. Costumes cannot be cancelled once they are ordered. There is a $20 per costume fee for ordering any costume after November 25, 2008, with the understanding that the costume may not be available in time for pictures or the recital. Pictures of selected costumes, tights requirements, hair style and accesory placement will be available for students and parents to view after December 1, 2008. Costume orders require a parent signature at the front desk when paid for.

Recital Videos

Encore Academy of Dance has a professional videographer tape the recital each year. The cost of the recital DVD is included in the recital fee. Carolina Theatre does not allow videotaping during the show.
